An Early History of Ford Pickup Trucks

A great number of people have owned and driven Ford pickup trucks through the years. If you are a person who has either owned Ford pickup trucks or if you are a person who is interested in purchasing one or another of the Ford pickup trucks that are on the market today, you may be interested in learning a bit of the history of Ford pickup trucks. Through this article, you will be provided with some information about the early history of Ford pickup trucks.

The most popular of the Ford pickup trucks that have been on the market are the F-Series Ford pickup trucks. Many people incorrectly assume that the F-Series is a Ford pickup trucks line of fairly recent origin. In fact, the F-Series line has been around for over sixty years.

The first F-Series Ford pickup trucks were brought onto the market in 1948. In that year, three different F-Series Ford pickup trucks were made available to consumers. The F-1 was a half tone, the F-2 was a three-quarter ton and the F-3 was a heavy duty. In other words, from the earliest years, Ford pickup trucks have been designed and put on the market to cover the needs of a wide variety of users. That tradition that began in 1948 actually carries forward to this very day when it comes to Ford pickup trucks.

The basic design and equipment associated with the first three F-Series Ford pickup trucks carried forth through the 1952 model year. By 1953 a major overall of Ford pickup trucks occurred. It was in that year that the following Ford pickup trucks were brought onto the market:

-- F-100

-- F-250

-- F-350

Once again, these three versions of Ford pickup trucks were designed to meet different segments of the market place. Ford maintained its commitment to making certain that all consumers interested in Ford pickup trucks could find a vehicle that would meet their specific set of needs and requirements.

In 1957, Ford undertook a major restyling of its Ford pickup trucks to make them more modern in appearance. The Flareside and the Styleside designs, which proved to be very popular, were introduced onto the market beginning with the restyling of 1957. Indeed, even today, these types of Ford pickup trucks are sought after by collectors.

In 1958, larger engines were introduced into Ford pickup trucks. Ford pickup trucks became a leader in market when it came to trucks that came complete with very powerful engines. The position that Ford obtained in 1958 carried forth into the future. Ford continues to be a leader in the field of powerful trucks that are suitable for a wide range of different purposes.
