Ford Pickup Trucks: Sales Trends

Ford is the second largest auto maker in the United States and one of the largest auto makers in all of the world. In considering the company, Ford pickup trucks generally have been top sellers for the auto maker. However, in recent time, Ford has seen a slip in sales, including a slip in sales associated with its Ford pickup trucks line of products.

Overall, at the present time, Ford is experiencing a drop in sales in the United States of over 30,000 units. For example, in 2006, the company was selling on average 244,000 in units each month, including Ford pickup trucks. By 2007, the monthly sales figures -- including Ford pickup trucks -- dropped downward to approximately 211,000 units monthly.

When it comes to Ford pickup trucks and sales, the Ford F-Series has been extraordinarily popular over the past decade. Through the F-Series, the company produces both medium and heavy Ford pickup trucks.

Sales are not expected to increase significantly any time in the immediate future. Again, this holds true for Ford pickup trucks as well as for all of the cars manufactured by the auto maker.

The drop in sales experienced by Ford is not an industry wide phenomenon. Indeed, a good number of auto makers around the world have experienced increases in sales over the course of the past year. Additionally, these auto makers beyond Ford expect there to be continual sales growth into the more immediate future.

In addition to a slowdown in sales, the inventory of Ford products has also dropped over the course of the past year. This includes the company’s inventory of Ford pickup trucks. Ford inventories, again including Ford pickup trucks, has dropped twenty-two percent over the course of the past twelve months. Inventory totals are expected to continue to decline at least over the course of the coming year.

There are a number of reasons why Ford auto and Ford pickup trucks sales have slumped recently. One reason involves the fact that daily rental companies have reduced their order of Ford cars and Ford pickup trucks in recent times. This does account for a significant percentage of the overall drop in sales at Ford.

Moreover, during the past six months, Ford has offered some pretty significant price reductions in regard to Ford cars and Ford pickup trucks. The reduction in the price tags at Ford on Ford cars and Ford pickup trucks was intended to spur sales and has had that effect to some level. However, it has not caused a spike in overall sales. Finally, there have been significant changes in management at Ford, including the resignation of the company’s CEO during 2006.
